Using resized images?

    I am using BPM standalone without Buddypress, which works fine. But when an image file is uploaded I can see it gets resized by WP into several default sizes as normal, but it is not using those resized image to display in the website in the messages. It is using the full sized image.

    How do I get it to use them, and then have a link to the full size image for download if needed.

    I have now installed BuddyPress and it is still not loading the smaller WP generated image for faster page loading, is this normal? Or a setting I have missed?
